I will not be shaken.
In this situation, the things that have been so dear to us are hardly available. Having nice meals, having the sweet fellowships, and corporate worship with the brethren, having a cup of coffee with a friend, sporting, and going to the theaters is but a dream. We no longer have security on our jobs, bank accounts may show zero balance or a negative balance and bushiness crumbling and facing financial hardships due to shutdowns.
Our beloved scientists, economists, and political leaders are working hard to fix things but it’s not easy. Newspapers are predicting doom. As we face these challenges our hearts become troubled and we become fearful. However, the Psalmist reminds us that, our salvation comes from God. He equates our God as rock and once we hide, or hold on to this rock, we will never be shaken even when everything seems to be shaking. King David knew that his security is not found in his possession, or position as king but only in God. We too are secure when our trust is in God of our salvation. (Ps. 62:1-12) “Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge”(Ps: 6-8).
The psalmist challenges the believers to “Trust in Him at all times, pour out your heart to Him for God is our refuge.” We should speak honestly to the Lord about how we truly feel. Let’s talk to our only refuge about our fears, hunger, stress, grief, and all the suffering that we are facing right now as a community and the entire world.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is our only sure security from all that threatens us, including this pandemic, as we continue to trust Him, He is going to guide, guard and empower us to overcome this situation.
Dear friends take courage and be strong in the Lord and let your soul find refuge in His loving-kindness to us and we will not be shaken. Apostle Peter reminds us that we should cast our cares to Him. (1Peter 5:7)
God bless you
